ABOUT US: Creed

1 - Be loyal to your country:
We should be very proud of our own countries and the world.  Hundreds of generations before us tried their best to make our lives better by building great countries for us to live in.  Many people even died while trying to make our lives better.  We should not take that sacrifice lightly or for granted.

2 - Be obedient to your parents:
Our parents brought us into this world and care for us.  They changed our nappies, fed us and love us even when we are at our worst.  Now, that is love.  We show them our love and gratitude by being respectful, loving and obedient.

3 - Be lovable/loving with your husband or wife:
Express love and respect with all faithfulness and devotion to one another.  Marriage is a life-long commitment that should be carefully nurtured and protected.

4 - Be cooperative with your brothers and sisters:
Getting along with brothers and sisters can be difficult at times.  When you are with them almost every minute of the day, it can be easy to get tired of them.  But, it is very important to cooperate and help each other.  Life is suffering, but so much easier without conflict and anger.  Also, when you cooperate with your brothers and sisters, you fulfil the second commitment: obedience to your parents.

5 - Be respectful of your elders:
Sometimes, we may look at our elders as being old fashioned.  They do not seem to understand the latest technologies or listen to the same music that we do.  But, when it comes to living life our elders have a great advantage over us: experience.  Our elders have seen so much more, experienced much more and felt so much more than we have.  Life lessons are timeless and we can learn many things from our elders.  They deserve to be respected above everyone else.

6 - Be faithful to your friends:
Being faithful to our friends means being there for them when they need you and never letting them down.  Make sure that you are the good and kind friend that you want to have in your own life.  Complete trust and loyalty will keep your friendships healthy.  Never betray a confidence.  Show support when your friend is down.

7 - Be honourable with your instructor (establish trust between teacher and student):
Trust is a vital part of the teacher-student relationship.  The student needs to trust the teacher, that the teacher is masterful within her/his art.  But, the teacher must also be able to trust the student, that the student will not take her/his teachings and use them in manners that bring dishonour.

8 - Be discreet with the use of Taekwondo, use it justly:
Everything in the universe serves a purpose.  All purposes are important.  No matter how big or small that purpose is, whether being a King or being a housefly.  Only for our protection and defence should a living thing be destroyed.

9 - Be brave, never retreating in battle:
Not every battle we face is actual physical combat.  In fact, we face our own little internal wars everyday.  Thoughts inducing anxiety, uncertainty, being overloaded with work, being scared about the future and even taking exams are all battles that we face.  Another way to word this commitment is: never run away from your problems and responsibilities.

10 - Be consistent, always finish what you start:
A finished project is an accomplishment.  An unfinished project is nothing but a waste of energy and time.  You will feel rewarded when you finish with all confidence that it has been done to the best of your ability.
